The earlier seasons see stern father Mr Tay struggling to hold onto a familiar way of life amidst tumultuous changes that threaten to tear the family apart. Some of the most memorable moments include the death of Mrs Tay, which left the Tay family devastated; Vicki's divorce from her unfaithful doctor husband; Tammy graduating from university; David's decision to move to England; and Gary's marriage to Karen. In the latest season, expect more drama when Gary commits adultery, Karen suffers from a miscarriage, and Vicki's son contracts leukaemia.
