Making its second visit to the Proms, to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the orchestra plays music by Rossini, Debussy, Wagner, Rimsky-Korsakov and the world premiere of a new work by Esa-Pekka Salonen. During the interval presenter Verity Sharp talks to the orchestra's current music director, the lively Mr Gergiev..
